Traveling Furniture on the Move

Our travelling furniture has often been bought miles and too many memories away. The constant pieces are now brought together in harmony to bring various experiences to one place. Many of us have been on the move and not all of us have a big budget, able only to take clothes. We are fortunate to have been relocated by companies in all relocations but one. That was a great learning lesson. I was going to be in France for eight months before we moved more permanently to another country before my husband finalised his move to Berlin where I would join

Feng Shui Colours – Black is Black!

Black in the Feng Shui world is all about water and is often used for the front door, where Feng Shui begins. A black front door offers strength to the house as you enter and is a colour related to the flow of wealth. Black is a great colour to contrast other colours with and will definitely partner with metal colours such as white, grey, purple, blue and green. in the Feng Shui life cycle, water polishes metal and enables wood to grey. It is best to avoid it with fire colours as fire is said to douse out water and

One martini, two martini, three martini – floor!

Apparently Humphrey Bogart's last words were, "I never should have switched from Scotch to Martinis." So in his style, it was Friday night, we needed a bar that promised Paradise. I had two (Gin, Apricot Brandy and a dash of fresh orange juice). Here's looking at you, Lesley!

Kitchen Gadgets!

It is so difficult to pass by those demonstrators who present how to create carrot flowers in 20 different ways! My husband and I have the usual kitchen gadgets but add a mushroom brush, parsley grater, butter curler and the recent but useful spirali tool and you get the picture. So - yes we could list chef knives, boards, spatulas but I am talking about serious appliances that come in modern, vintage reproduction, different colours and all to add style to a kitchen, even if you are renting.   Key Kitchen Gadgets Here are some that won't be relegated to the

Feng Shui Colours – The Purple Patch!

Purple is the wealth colour in Feng Shui. However, it needs to be used carefully as, like red, it can be too active in most of the Bagua map sectors. Across cultures, it is associated with wealth, nobility and prestige. You don't have to use a lot of it as sometimes a touch is all you need. I am not a fan of the colour but if I need to use it, consider softer lavender tones. It is partnered with the element of Wood and touches of green and purple can be very chic.  If it isn't a favourite of yours,

Cocktail Hour!

I am a fan of a really good, traditional cocktail. None of this a can of soda, half a mint plant and a load of ice in a glass! I want style, good liquor and a kick in the head as Dean Martin would say.

Light the Way – Table Lamps

I wait to see a room in its final stages when reviewing ambient lighting. In our past Berlin apartment we were lucky as we faced the morning sun and it was one of the key reasons we bought the apartment. In the winter, there was enough light even on a classic grey and dower day. In the summer, we were surrounded by silver birches and the soft glittery light is wonderful! Light the Way I love lamps as they highlight an area and can offer a wow factor to a room and even a corner. There are stand-alone lamps but I

Feng Shui Colours – Roses are Red

Red is associated with the element of Fire in Feng Shui. It is in the Fame and Reputation, and Love and Marriage sectors. It is my least favourite colour as I feel jangled if I wear the colour or am surrounded by it. Others love any shade and prefer it to my choice of blue and aqua. However; in Feng Shui, red represents passion, energy and life. Elements of it can activate the right areas in your space but it can also add fire for arguments and over stimulation - makes sense!   No - You Don't Have to Paint a Door Red
