There are many of us moving forward in to new ventures, lifestyles and ways of thinking. It isn't easy, we will make mistakes and we will be anxious. However; there is also a sense of diving in and stretching out our arms to merge in to that sea of newness with hope and excitement.

In a tiny Frejus junk shop, there are piles of 1931-1934 Illustration magazines with wonderful adverts and articles. I love this picture as it sums up the sense of life and joy as we start the early summer with fresh, crisp, blue sky mornings of promise.

I am a fan of a really good, traditional cocktail. None of this a can of soda, half a mint plant and a load of ice in a glass! I want style, good liquor and a kick in the head as Dean Martin would say.

My grandmother kept beautiful things under lock and key in a glass cabinet only to be used for special occasions. I now use vintage cocktail glasses, a silver toast rack and other vintage items to enjoy them.
