Feng Shui Tips – Christmas Decor

It is that time of year when Christmas markets open, lights go on, parcels are wrapped and then there are the decorations. Let's talk about the tree first. It always saddens me when you see pieces of fir trees thrown out on the curb/sidewalk after the holidays. If you can manage, buy a tree and put it in the garden in a pot until next year. Or as we will do, buy an artificial tree - the new ones look real and you can use them year after year. We haven't had one for years as our two cats

Feng Shui Conversations – Bathroom Remedies

The bathroom is one of the key rooms in Feng Shui as you will have read in previous posts. It is all about the Water element and we need to recall that Chinese toilets were less than desirable. Fast forward to now and we treat bathrooms like spas. You will recall that were the bathroom is placed in the Bagua map tells you colours and elements to manage. Let's start with some key aspects. Where your bathroom is will tell you what you need to balance in the different elements and you can also do this with different colours.

A Lesson in Patience

There is that wonderful jazz song that says to, accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative, latch on to the affirmative and don't mess with mister in-between. It was one of those weeks where it was necessary to remind yourself about perspective and what is important and to look for the positive. It started with a small operation that didn't happen, continued with a furniture delivery that wasn't possible and snowballed with various minor disappointments. We had organised a weekend to start some work on our Antibes French apartment which required some organisation and planning. As with all good plans,

Decor Inspiration

We were about to embark on decorating our Antibes apartment pre-Covid and as I reword posts in a different French apartment, it seems like a life time away. The space has been renovated but left at a raw state with a soft grey putty paint colour and lots of light. We needed to think about style, colour and furniture! After using Feng Shui practices, we took a step back and decided that we still wanted an Art Deco feel with modern furniture and a welcoming atmosphere. For us, this means clean lines, soft curves and fun decor. The Entrance

Feng Shui France

We had finally moved in to our new French apartment in Antibes. Two chairs and an inflatable bed is all the key furniture we had at this time. However, it gave us the chance to really Feng Shui all rooms. It was an apartment with some interesting aspects, least of all, having a blade wall! So six crystals and various mirrors later, we are almost ready to go. Here is what we needed to do.     Welcome! We cleaned the apartment thoroughly and went through each room with a stick of incense to freshen the air and to

Relax, Review, Restart

Well this has been a month of interesting moments including having a bad cold for the first time for years. Definitely the body saying slow down and reflect as we enter the colder months and review the past year. It has been a week of reflection mainly due to not being able to move or say much including my posts! So, take the week slowly and recuperate and restart.

Lights, Action!

As Autumn draws in and we lose natural light, our interior lighting becomes so important. We are seeking a cosy, soft and inviting light to counteract the grey outdoors. Check out a previous post https://interiorharmonyblog.com/2019/04/28/lights-a-wow-factor/ which outlines the different ways to light a space through practical fixtures and those that give a wow factor. There are so many choices which can be confusing and there is a chance you may revert to something straightforward instead of going for  a statement piece that adds style to a room. What Does the Light Do? There are three key kinds of lighting, general functional

Feng Shui Conversations – Black and White

I was immediately attracted to the clean, chic look of this teapot. It stands out immediately as fresh with just enough negative space not to be dark or boring whilst adding a wonderful graphic effect. So how to use black and white and where to use it according to Feng Shui practice? The key point is to recognise that the combination of white and black can instantly add style to a space but you do need to know how to balance them to create an equal partnership otherwise one colour takes over the other.   Black is Black Black

Feng Shui Conversations – The Dining Room

We are about to decorate our dining room and it is going to be a fun opportunity! This is a room that is all about abundance and Feng Shui practice definitely sees food as a sign of prosperity. There are some key elements with the table, style and setting. The Table This is the central focus of the dining room and should mirror not just your style but how you see the space. The ideal table is made of wood with gentle curves and no poison arrows. It is best to avoid glass tables as stated in a previous

I love everything about this sign! The only thing it needed to add was Cocktails and Chocolate!
