Glass, a melange of raw materials that form one of our most precious materials. Think of lenses, mirrors, windows, test tubes and electronics, never mind bottles, glasses and ornaments. In Feng Shui it represents the Water element which is all about the flow of wealth, growth, emotions and the need to balance all of these. Crystal balls are a key cure for stopping Chi energy in its tracks so that it stays in a room to add positive energy. They are hung above windows to catch the light and to avoid the ‘corridor’ effect of energy going right out of the window or view. Mirrors are also glass and can reflect negative energy or strengthen a missing sector. However, use glass with caution as it represents emotion and can be too much.

Where to Use?

It might be easier to say where not to use! First of all, not in the Fame sector which has Fire as the element. Review the cycle, Water helps Wood to grow but don’t use too much, it muddies Earth but polishes Metal. Then consider the emotions attached, fire and red for ambition and passion, wood and green for growth and health, metal and white for honesty and communication. Blues, black and greys represent water.  If you read the posts, the bathroom is full of water elements and in most situations, ceramics and earth tones are recommended to reduce the drainage of water, of energy. Also avoid lots of sea and boat decor, the bathroom can be a luxurious spa in other ways without adding more Water elements. Also watch out for glass shelves or coffee tables as they are seen as cutting edges. We have a coffee table enclosed with a metal frame keeping us from  the cutting element. If you have these, it is relatively easy to enclose the glass.

How have I Used Glass?

A convex mirror has been placed above the television to reflect the door entry so anyone entering can be seen. This is a key cure to having your back to the room entrance. Ideally, you should be able to see the doorway clearly. A very large and long mirror is placed in the laundry room to enhance the space to include the missing space of Travel and Helpful People. Interestingly, we seem to be traveling more and have attracted wonderful neighbours and helpful people. Crystal balls have been used above two windows in different rooms where the window is opposite the doorway and the Chi energy can go straight out. They are pretty and catch the sunlight offering soft rainbows. Small mirrors have been put under toilet and kitchen drains with the mantra that ‘all positive energy remains in the apartment’. It is yet again, all about balance and a sense of gentle energy moving around your space creating internal harmony.
