What a week! We are almost there with ceilings and cornices up, walls painted, bathroom installed and kitchen space waiting for the kitchen. A deep clean will be done this week and new doors put in. It has been a long three months with lots of stressful moments, choices made in the hope they turn out and good faith in the builder/client relationship. Even the soft green canopy looks great and adds a gentle shade to the balcony.
Feng Shui First
Curtain rails need to go up first and then crystals will be hung in what is called ‘the corridor windows’. Think of when you walk in to a room and you see out of the window across the way. It means the Chi, the energy, goes right out of the window. The crystal ball is placed there to catch the light and to check that energy stays inside. If you walk in to a room and in a straight line would bump in to a wall, then this isn’t needed. Also having lovely linen curtains helps and of course, eye catching decor to distract the eye from just looking at the window. We also have four doorways not lining up which is a classic ‘split view’ aspect seen to lead to arguments. Easy to rectify by hanging a small crystal ball in the middle to prevent this and definitely one in the bathroom window as well.
Mirrors of course will be placed behind drains to keep all energy from draining away. We have a missing sector in the Travel & Helpful People. A large mirror will be hung inside the length of the front laundry room to pull in the missing sector. Old school Chinese Feng Shui doesn’t believe in this practice but we should remember, Chinese homes were very different in structure and space in the previous centuries. I follow the Bagua map school which blends the East with the West and acknowledges that we have different architecture and modern views on the usage of our space.
Colour My World
Every room, except the bathroom, has soft cream walls with a warm base. Each room seems to reflect a slightly different tone and balances with the stark white ceilings and rosettes. It represents the Earth element in Feng Shui which is all about grounding and being centred. The Bagua map will be used for each room and different colours and decor will be added to reflect the sector and element. Already a sense of space, light has been added and there is feeling that the apartment has come back to life.
