The following week will be full of final moving logistics, a time when a stiff drink will be needed! Already, wonderful friends have rallied around, delivered goods, supported with food and generally kept us sane. Cocktails, top food and the Elvis movie one night with our Breakfast Club was a perfect end to days of managing processes both at work and home. We move to a rental apartment until our new apartment is renovated and, of course it will be checked out with Feng Shui practice!

Feng Shui First

Even with short term rentals, use the Bagua map and check out what you can remedy. A box of mirrors and a couple of tiny crystal balls always help. Not having any idea yet of the apartment layout, it is anticipated that the bathroom is usually to the left of the space. This is the Self-Knowledge sector and water, blues and greens are perfect here normally but as with all bathrooms, we want to reduce the water element flowing out. Look to use earth elements of stone and beige towels and accessories depending on how long your stay is. The kitchenettes are usually tiny and water and fire elements are close to each other. You just have to manage it the best you can. Keep the drains clean and covered. Obviously avoid using a stove top at the same time as a dishwasher! It is basic common sense really. We will have a one-bedroom apartment so at least the TV will be in the living room and not the bedroom. Some additional tips:

  • If you can’t see the front door from the sofa, angle a small mirror that enables you to see who comes in through the door;
  • Same with the bedroom and ensure you can see who enters the door when you are in bed:
  • If there are any poison arrows such as bedside table corners, place cushions against the edges:
  • If there isn’t much storage, keep clothes and items tidy and organised;
  • Move furniture around if the positions don’t make sense; and
  • Look for a sense of balance.

Just remember, it is only temporary!
