There have been so many strange and interesting subjects that have come up and we are only sixteen days in to the year! Conversations seem to come back to what is going to sustain and support us in the coming months? Some friends are denying our new year and say they will “start in February with the Chinese and to hell with the Christian calendar, the year of the Tiger looks good with all of its forward energy and courage”. Others are looking to have a different year, desperate for family, travel and other pastimes. We find music and food sustains us as it is about voices and communities coming together. Recent meals with Berlin based friends in Budapest, an unexpected brunch with a past New York friend who happened to be passing by and much effort was taken with various methods of travel to reconnect. A new young friend is charting her way through pandemic on-line dating whilst another 30 something tells us about his former wayward life and how he still loves his ex-girlfriend. It is these snatches of humanity over a cocktail, tapas or coffee that keeps us going and help us embrace the next day.
