Get your Feng Shui moving! Having had several interesting conversations about Feng Shui over the last few weeks, I always mention that it isn’t a miracle cure as we have some control over our thoughts and actions and Feng Shui often reflects those. However, if a sector in your life isn’t working including love, health, career, money and friendships, look around your living space and see if it is achieving interior harmony for you. Sometimes it can just be a case of cleaning and decluttering an area, putting shoes and items away or minimising the decor. Any hiccups in these areas can also be because you have a sector that you are not activating. This is often a spare bedroom, a second bathroom or another similar space.

That Second Bedroom

Be honest, how often do people stay with you? We have had houses and apartments in the past with a spare bedroom set up and rarely used. People have stayed but many prefer their own space in a hotel which we generally do as well. If you have a second bedroom, put an activity in there so you activate the Chi. Make it your office space, use it for ironing but keep it tidy or as one friend did, put that season’s clothing there so she had to go in and select clothes.

The Spare Bathroom

We have one of these and have set the cat litter there and also use it so the energy stays clear and active. I also run water through the shower drain just to keep it fresh – a practical tip rather than Feng Shui! Make sure it is aired and cleaned each week. As with other posts on bathrooms, keep the drains covered and the toilet seat down. Put in fresh towels and natural room fragrances will help keep it smelling fresh. Ours is next to the dining room which was of concern but we bought a small, discreet sound machine that is a perfect solution!

The Extra Lounge or Dining Room

It is a British and Australian tradition to have another lounge and/or dining room, usually called the ‘Front Room’ and off limits to children. They often smell closed and musty and my memory is of uncomfortable furniture and dust! If you have one, check where it is on the Bagua Map and energise the space according to the sector. Obviously keep it clean and fresh. Then open up the locked cabinets and use the best china and glassware – what are you waiting for?!
