During this difficult time it was in the middle of covid and I found it hard to write about interior design and it wasn’t easy to keep calm and not to feel that every odd cough or breath was a symptom. So from this week, I was focusing on our core values and needs.

I created this blog from a desire to blend interior design with the balance elements of Feng Shui. I can’t control the outside world and all of its challenges but I can try to create an inner space that offers inner peace. This week, ornaments and loved pieces of furniture have taken on new meaning as we are more cocooned in our apartment. We will eventually move to the south of France permanently and we will sadly have to sell some pieces of furniture for a song. Some, however, are going with us regardless.

  1. Two genuine Louis 16th French male and female chairs recovered in modern fabric
  2. A small Swiss card table we bought for a song
  3. The glass Art Deco style lamp from New York that several friends love
  4. A Chinese money chest, along with cat scratches
  5. A big New York bed that is a haven from the world
  6. The genuine French farmhouse table of fruit wood with finely turned legs
  7. A New York elegant coffee table, a piece of luxury

Having talked to various friends, many are assessing at this stage; what we are doing, who we are, where we want to be. Basically, what is our future. Being under siege can bring out the best thoughts and some key points arose during discussions. Some are ready to plan for the future and sell that expensive house, buy something by a beach and join other friends in a happy place. Others are reconsidering relationships, lifestyle and careers. It will be interesting to see where they are at the end of 2020.

What do you really need?

It is interesting writing a list and constantly people came up with friends, good wine and food, a roof over our heads and ideally the beach, mountains, snow, sun – whatever place you love. Very few said a sports car or a mansion. Of course, some of us said some nice shoes and chocolate – oh, wait, that was me! Then we came to furniture – a comfortable bed and chair, a table to dine around and favourite keepsakes and art work. Food for thought.
