We were about to embark on decorating our Antibes apartment pre-Covid and as I reword posts in a different French apartment, it seems like a life time away. The space has been renovated but left at a raw state with a soft grey putty paint colour and lots of light. We needed to think about style, colour and furniture! After using Feng Shui practices, we took a step back and decided that we still wanted an Art Deco feel with modern furniture and a welcoming atmosphere. For us, this means clean lines, soft curves and fun decor.

The Entrance

We fell in love with the double antique wood doors, they are solid but need some care with wax. There was a space for a closet and we painted the area a deeper dove grey to give a sense of area.

The Bedroom

We were lucky in that we transferred the grey and white bedroom furniture and accessories straight to this room. Two side tables were bought and we found some lovely silver draw knobs in Zara Home that perfectly matched the Art Deco look. Grey Corelli patterned curtains were hung as the window throws a lot of outside light. We added our grey and white Berlin a wardrobe.

The Lounge

The light that comes through the window has a soft haze and we wanted to keep that feeling. We decorated in soft sand and ivory colours with brass accessories. A lovely reproduction Art Deco pendant light was found in Maison du Monde and the look revolved around this style. A 1920s drinks cabinet was found in a charity shop for 70 euros and a brass mirror was hung above it. We needed to find a large rug that didn’t cost a small fortune and will had fun finding brass accessories in brocantes and flea markets.

The Dining Room

We had’t used bright colours for a while and are looking forward to using tropical green and cobalt blue in textiles and colours. We bought the same Art Deco light as the lounge for some continuity, we may change it for something different! The tropical look is very attractive and fun with a range of fruit, leaves and animals as inspiration.

The Kitchen

The cupboards are a retro buttermilk style which resonates with a 1940s kind of look. With touches of sky blue, we wanted the area to be fun with a bistro/cafe feel. A dresser was  bought and painted in a soft blue and we looked forward to searching for fun accessories to add a sense of a retro style.

The Bathroom

The tiles were a soft grey brown and it giave a cool look. To warm up the room, a banquette was painted a light coffee shade and the vanity unit in caffe latte paint. Fluffy coffee coloured towels and pottery bowls were added. It is a functional room but it also needs to be welcoming.
