Feng Shui followers will have seen stores and sites that offer golden galleons, dragons, turtles, coins and other Feng Shui cures. My mentor, Clear Englebert, talks about his clients, even Asian clients, not wanting to use bright colours and over the top remedies. https://clearenglebert.wordpress.com
Many of us live in houses and apartments that have challenging design features or were built to fit in to a practical area due to space issues. Feng Shui remedies need to move with urban design to provide solutions to modern living challenges. Key items are mirrors, crystals, colour and the five Bagua elements all added with your personal statement and intent.
Mirrors
Mirrors, small, large and mosaic can be used to great effect. Yes, they reflect positive energy in to the living space but use them carefully. You can buy small round mirror tiles to be used to ‘extend’ walls that are missing from the Bagua Map. I have a couple of these with my balconies. A small mirror is placed by the skirting board stating that this wall extends and connects with the relationship area of the apartment so there is no missing sector. Just think of a mirror doubling whatever it is affecting and ask yourself, is this what you want.
Tips & Tricks – Think of the reflective, water qualities of mirrors
- Bathrooms, sinks and drains – place small mirrors around drains and below the toilet to avoid energy going ‘down the drain’. State that this mirror reflects energy back so it doesn’t affect the space, or if your toilet faces the direction of your front door as ours does, state that this mirror reflects the energy so it doesn’t affect the front door.
- Kitchen – if you cook with your back to the room, place a reflective kettle or reflective tiles behind the stove so you can ‘see the action’ behind you.
- Bedroom – avoid having mirrors in the bedroom or ideally use them to reflect a lovely view. Avoid having them at the end of your bed as this is said to be facing your own ghost! I have wardrobes that slightly reflect being glossy. Fortunately, the dark colour doors are opposite and the reflection doesn’t show. Don’t forget that TVs and computers – which should not be in the bedroom have a reflective surface!
- Bagua mirrors – I don’t use them. They need really experienced Feng Shui knowledge and are generally used outside.
- Long mirrors – make sure you can see as much of your body as possible, don’t cut off your head.
Crystals
Small ball crystals can be bought inexpensively via Amazon. Use them to help with the ‘corridor’ effect. This is when you open the door and the view attracts energy to go straight down the hallway and out of the window. As you know, Chi should circulate around the different areas to attract the positive energy for each sector. It means all money and opportunity goes out of the window. I have had this issue with past apartments and have placed crystals on the beams stating that this crystal keeps all positive area in this space. I also place crystal balls inside the window frames of the end window stating the same. You can use commander strips if this is difficult or if you are renting. If you have beams, hang a small crystal on the beam above where people are sitting and state this stops the poison arrow negative energy. Crystals also reflect beautiful rainbow colours in the sun!
Colour & Element
Use colour and the Bagua map elements to balance the energy of the space. For example, our Berlin balcony was is in the relationship corner which has the earth element and the ideal colours of pinks and whites. That wasn’t going to happen on the balcony and we already had a lovely blue outdoor sofa we love. A solution was to analyse the space. We were surrounded by trees and wood which partners with earth, the navy is water and we had enough white that is a good colour for the area. We added touches of lemon which brought in the earth element. It was a lovely space in the warmer weather.
