This is an area that should ideally be in your main bedroom or lounge area. It is about all relationships but particularly your primary one. The key aim is to send an intention and message that you are part of a partnership. Look to clear clutter, observe what your art work and ornaments say and avoid water, metal or wood elements, this is an area of earth with touches of fire to feed the earth.

Key Elements of Earth and Fire

Decorate with earth based textiles with porcelain and stone. fire element colors are often used, following the practice of fire feeding the earth red, orange, pink, yellow, or purple. Be sure to create balance on both sides of the bed. Don’t place a very tall or large fixture on one side of the bed and small one or no fixture on the other side.

Avoid metal, water, and wood in your Feng Shui southwest area cures. It is all about balance. Use colours of pink, red or white for romance and yellow for the earth element. This was a difficult one for our Berlin apartment as our relationship corner was in the main bedroom and our balcony. Neither of us is a fan of pink so we opted for a creamy ivory with soft touches of lavender with images of leaves with an Art Deco theme. The balcony already had a love seat but in the wrong colour. Something we didn’t want to replace so we added tones of lemon and found our initials to compliment. We love the Moroccan feel it had and there was a gentle romance to it. It was a lovely area to read and relax.

Bedroom

A place of rest, romance, relaxation. Avoid family pictures as this is about your relationship.  Avoid work, TVs or computers in your bedroom as it counteracts the area of romance and rest. Many people live in studios which makes it difficult to manage this. Find a way where you can section off your bed area with a screen for example. Or put away your work equipment in a drawer or box and no, not under the bed!  I have helped friends seeking relationships to Feng Shui their bedrooms and relationship corners. I often see that they have art work and ornaments that shout – single and solo. Look for couples, 2 birds, 2 trees and buy a solid headboard as this is seen to add strength to a relationships. We have used lovely Art Deco original prints of couples dancing, walking – and have reframed them now with a soft beige.

Lounge/Dining Area

This is similar to the bedroom, apply the same aspects and ensure work equipment or a desk is closed for business when you are relaxing. Consider where the TV is, as this could end up dominating the relationship area saying that your primary relationship is with the TV! If your relationship sector is in the dining area, position equal numbers of chairs, add elements of earth with pottery and ceramics and include touches of red with candles.

Bathroom

Bathrooms in this area are not ideal. However, to minimize its effects, use earth and fire elements in this area.  Keep the bathroom clean and fresh-smelling. Add romantic images always with a focus of two and create a sensual atmosphere. Use the colours of red or yellow in towels, accessories including candles, or paint the walls a soft peach colour that you can cope with.

Kitchen

This is also a great area for relationships – add colours of red, rose, white or yellow for earth. The oven is the fire element feeding earth. Put pottery of two items, 2 cups, a red kettle.

Office

Apply similar principles as with the kitchen; use red accessories and add a picture of your primary relationship on your work space.

It is Missing!

Find the corner where it should be and place a tall bright light ideally in red or yellow to activate the missing area. If in your garden, add 2 seats, a romantic statue but not a water feature. Take a crystal and hang it in the area close to where the most south west corner is, stating ‘this crystal attracts love and positive relationships and increases the love in my relationships.”
