Fame!

The Fame and Reputation area – this is basically, the South area of the Bagua Map. Think of it as the back central part of your space. Also consider it in each room as well and in particular for anyone with an office. A general view of fame is also about your image, what you stand for as it blends in to your reputation and what you present to the world and others. Feng Shui tip: you may have the classic ‘corridor’ effect which means as you open your front door, you see right out to a window or down the hallway to the back door. I have the window issue in both apartments . This means that the Chi energy rushes from the door straight out the window or back door and all other areas of the Bagua Map miss out. You will need to put a crystal inside the major window, stating that the crystal ‘keeps all energy inside the home’. These are easily bought in decorating shops, on Amazon and other websites in different sizes.

I Have to Use Red?!

Ah, my least favourite colour, it is a colour of high energy and leaves me feeling rattled. I instantly yearn for aqua oceans, grains of sand and a soft breeze. I have friends who love the colour and wear it happily with great effect. If you like red, go for it, cushions, pictures, paint a wall. However, don’t overdo it, is all about balance, hints can be used in various shades of rose as well. Green can also be used as wood feeds a fire, water colours are not recommended as water douses fire.

The Element of Fire

Fire can come in the form of red candles, fireplaces, stoves, tall lights and of course, art work. Look for images that resonate with your side of fire, images of orange and yellow can also be used. Again, avoid water images, fire and water counteract each other however; images of wood, trees in strong green enhance the element. This sector also sees images of animals and use of leather as part of the energy.

The Bathroom

Not an ideal area as, by now, you will be aware that this is the most contentious room for Feng Shui people. You will need to really bring in Wood and Earth elements and the colours green or beige to balance the Water element that is naturally in the bathroom. As stated before, keep the bathroom clean, make sure all drains, plug holes are covered as Feng Shui practice says your fame will drain! Add beige or green towels, ensure any heating works and make sure the room is well lit.

The Office

This is the ideal place to have your office. Feng Shui tip: always make sure you back is against a wall and that you can see the door or entrance clearly. Feng Shui sees this as providing support and being able to see the energy coming. History calls this the ‘warrior’ position where you have a clear vision of the energy around you. The element of wood works well and an ideal desk would be one of wood with gentle curves. Ensure your desk and office is clutter free and organised. Place degrees, symbols of success and reputation here. The colours of red and green are key and can be used in folders, books, even pens.

The Kitchen

This is a great place for the kitchen but don’t forget to balance the water and fire elements. The colours of red, orange of green and brown work well with wood but ensure it is balanced. Avoid water colours such as blue and black. Before you panic, the kitchen is the most expensive area to renovate other than the bathroom. If your kitchen presents as water due to the colour and style, douse the water with wood and fire elements to absorb the Water. Black works well with touches of green, red or orange and can also work well with dark wood. Blue kitchens can be balanced with green and wood.

It is Missing!

Many of us live in spaces that have been designed with modern lifestyle architecture. If you find the Fame sector is outside in your garden, add a tall light to state that this creates the Fame sector and makes it part of the overall floor plan, put the barbecue there as a fire element. If you have a missing section inside, add elements of fire and red where you would anticipate the section should be. It is all about balance as yes, you want a good reputation and respect for what you do and who you are but you don’t want to set everything on fire!
